Montreal, beautiful, romantic and lively. Certainly a beautiful place to be during summer. Here are some quick snapshots to share of the night festivities during summer
We were at the Korean convenience store the other day shopping for some Korean food. We came across the can of silkworm pupa a few times before but never really thought of trying it. Out of curiosity, bought a can and decided to try something different. First of all, as we are not familiar with this… naturally… we don’t know how to eat it. One mistake we made… we tried a piece straight out of the can. Then when I was doing a little bit of research before writing this post, I noticed that it is mentioned that the silkworm pupa in cans are usually boiled first before consumption… hmmm… guess we might have consumed a piece of it raw! For me, the first bite was the hardest as I bite on it, the juice or soy sauce absorbed inside literally burst forth. Guess I would prefer to try it deep fried next time or at least have it boiled ^_*
Summer is so close yet so far. As it starts to heat up a bit, it is time for walks in the park just to enjoy the fresh air, warmth and the greenery. It is great to see the Sun shining again after much clouds and rain.
The photos were taken on one of those rare days when a total of three cruise ships arrive at Saint John on the same day. Certainly a busy day for the businesses around. Though the photos only shows two of them. I have always admired the design and size of cruise ships… but I have never been on one. Hopefully I will get the chance to be on one in the future
One of the earliest modes of transport in the world would be sea vessels. Before the invention of airplanes, traveling on water has been with us for almost forever. A form of transport that will somehow remain relevant regardless of time.
Here are some photos I took around Halifax Harbour the past summer.
It certainly feels chilly out there these few days… and it is only gonna get colder. It is the time to stay home and enjoy the company of friends and family. Christmas is coming and so is winter. Hopefully we will have a White Christmas this year. Though the outdoors are already covered with snow
Another flower photo to share. The one above was taken at the Halifax Public Gardens during summer time. Have not updated in quite a while and I don`t really know what to write… so I chose the easiest way to update. I just post a photo
Leaves are falling, lots of flowers are gone. They will be missed until the coming spring/summer. From a colorful and vibrant scene… slowly transforming into a more monotonous ambiance as winter approaches closer and closer.
Sometimes in our lives we feel totally lost without direction… walking endlessly on this earth not knowing what is ahead of us. Life comes and goes and sometimes it feels as if the earth itself is falling apart. When we are at our weakest… this is where faith suddenly shines brightly like the Sun. A leap of faith is what we need sometimes to give ourselves a kick to a better tomorrow. A step towards our destiny
A picture to share. Faith is like a lighthouse… when the sun goes down and the sky is dark. The light from it shines brightly… guiding sea vessels to safety. In today’s world, though the lighthouse may be outdated with new technologies… but sometimes we still need a “lighthouse” in our lives.
One of the most photographed building in the University of New Brunswick Fredericton campus. Sir Howard Douglas Hall is also the oldest on campus. I really like the vines growing by the sides of the building… giving it more color in Fall. Click on picture for a bigger view.
Leaves are falling, winds are chilling, nights are cold and days are rainy. That is how I would describe Fall. Though Fall is one of the better times to do a bit of photography with the surroundings changing drastically to provide us with a wider spectrum of colors. It actually feels pretty good this time of the year especially when the Sun is shining strong but it can get pretty cold as well. Keep warm everyone Winter is coming and nothing can stop it, therefore enjoy these one or two more months of nicer weather.
How time flies… summer at an end and the beginning the colder weather of fall before the lowest period for drop in temperature for the year… winter. It was not too long ago that the weather was in the low 30s. Within a short period of time… everyday is below 20s. I rely on the weather network more and more these days as it get colder. During warmer days… I seldom even bother checking the weather. Anyways… falls also comes nice looking colors… leaves turning yellow and red. The wonder of 4 seasons is the change in surrounding throughout the year… enjoy it or not
Waves are certainly one of the forces of nature that is really fascinating to me. We always wonder from which point of the waters did it come from… was it caused by a boat? a small tremor under the sea? or just ocean currents? Some times we can just sit beside the sea and watch the waves hitting the shores… mesmerized by the splashes of water. Funny thing… I was shooting a short video of the waves in the same position as the picture shown… the waves were pretty strong with good splashes… strong effects. It was as if the waves were acting strong for the video clip. As I stop recording the video and was thinking of taking a photo instead… the waves suddenly calmed down. I waited and waited… no signs of the waves getting stronger… at the end I just gave up and shot some pictures of calmer looking waves. Click on the picture for a bigger view
A group of us had a short trip to Halifax, Nova Scotia just to relax and enjoy the long weekend. On the very last day of our trip, Mick suggested that we go to Peggy’s Cove, he showed us a brochure… it says in there that Peggy’s Cove is a photographer’s paradise. Surely enough, once we were there… lots of people around carrying big and small cameras. Surely a spectacular view with the huge rocks all around and the blue seas right in front. The lighthouse looks awesome in this setting. Here is a little photo to share… a circular polarizer helps quite a bit here Click the picture for a bigger view.
Walking by the sea always feels so good… when the seas are calm. The fog or mist far away, kind of makes you feel relieved and relaxed… though the rain is not far away. Ocean breeze with waves constantly moving in and the tide rising adds to the feeling. It certainly was pretty fun walking around the seaside… only issue is the big rocks are a bit hard to walk on… need to be a bit more careful. Click on the picture for a bigger view.
It was fun to walk across but I am still kind off paranoid walking across a bridge suspended in thin air by a bunch of cables and wooden planks as the path to walk on. I was really a little bit scared that I may be too heavy and the planks may break… haha. So when I cross… I made sure that my one feet was at least on the surface of 2 planks… hahaha… talk about paranoid. Here is the picture to share… click for a bigger view.
We had a great trip today to Fundy Trail. Though it was drizzling for quite a bit… it was great that we still manage to walk around a few spots on the trail without getting drenched. The fog surrounding the place makes it look so nice and mysterious. This photo is part 1 of the trail pictures. Check back for more.
The photo below is a closer view of the waterfall
Downtown Fredericton is usually pretty quiet late evenings… this photo was taken around 9.30PM. Sun is just about to set. Uptown Fredericton is usually where people go to after office hours. In Summer time, the sun sets pretty late… sometimes up to 10 or 11pm and rises early in the morning. Need to enjoy the sunlight before Fall and Winter comes again which can be pretty soon. Please click on the photo for a bigger view.
A photo of Brunswick Street Baptist Church to share. Sunset is always a great time for a nice photo… ambient lighting. The photo is merged from three different exposures. I feel this is one of my better HDR photos. Enjoy, click for a bigger picture.
Last Sunday was a bright sunny day. A group of friends decided to go to Mactaquac to have a picnic. Gorgeous blue skies and slow winds… great day to have outdoor activities. Here is the 1st series of pictures, snapshots of the travel… to Mactaquac which is about 20 to 30 minutes away from Fredericton.
About two months ago we all went to Moncton, girls went shopping while guys just walked around Moncton. A walk that took about 4-6 hours. From Champlain Mall, to downtown Moncton, to Costco area. Very nice weather with the sun shining bright. Took some snapshots along the way. Here are some to share: Click on picture for a bigger view.
