What can a telephoto lens do?

Ever wondered what that far away object looks like? Ever wanna capture people in action without making them awkward? Don’t want to scare off your subject? Want to frame that image but you cannot get that shot… even if you squat down, lie on the ground, jump up and down?

You can take pictures from angles you sometimes cannot get to…

You can frame your photos differently even though you might not be tall enough…

So what are you waiting for? Do yourself a favor and get yourself a telephoto lens… 70-300mm seems like a good range… especially on cropped sensors… you get 300 = 450mm equivalent. Get more into your photos and closer to your subjects. Make sure there is image stabilization though… really hard to capture at high zoom without those…

Last Saturday, Adeline and Miles invited us to Hartland to see the world’s longest covered bridge. It was about 1.5 hours away from Fredericton. Miles’ mom (I remember her name but I am not sure how to spell it out) drove us there. His mom was very nice to drive us there and back. We really had a great time. Thanks Miles’ mom, Adeline and Miles. On the way there, we stopped by the Irving Big Stop, had lunch, visited a potato chip factory and continued our journey.

Hartland Covered Bridge

Here we see the Hartland Covered Bridge… it is the longest covered bridge at 1282 feet. It is really long. They even call it the Wishing Bridge. You make a wish, close your eyes and hold your breath until you drive through the bridge and your dreams will come true. That was a very hard breath to hold.

Marie and Hartland Covered Bridge

Here you see the other side of the bridge is quite far away. There is no traffic light, therefore when you want to cross the bridge, turn on your headlights and when there is no car, cross over and the car on the other side will yield waiting for their turn.

I was just browsing through the Internet reading some odd news when I came about this photo which is about 200 couples tying the knot at the Thean Hou temple for that auspicious date 090909 which is believed to bring good tidings to the marriage. oh, no I am not against those couples getting married on that date, I would have to if I was in that circumstance.

Just that the bride in this photo some how closely resembles a secondary school mate I knew. However, I’m not that sure if that was her in the photo though but it certainly looks like her. Especially the fact that she is in KL too. Hmm, I wonder…
